Right-back, who can also operate in central defence, who rejoined the Pitmen for a third spell in June 2023

A graduate of the West Bromwich Albion youth scheme, Mendez-Jones was promoted to the Baggies U23 side in the summer of 2014, playing several games at reserve level for the club during the following season. In June 2016, he was loaned to League Two side Accrington Stanley on a six-month deal, making only two substitute appearances for the Lancashire club in that time. By this time, he had made several appearances for England at both U17 and U18 level

In June 2017 Mendez-Jones was released by West Brom and spent the summer months on trial at the likes of Cheltenham Town as he looked to earn a deal

In November 2017 he linked up with Hednesford, ahead of their Evo-Stik League Premier game against Farsley Celtic, making his debut at centre-back in a 2-1 win. Alongside fellow new signings Matt Curley and Charlie Gatter, the youngsters gave the Pitmen much-needed verve and enthusiasm in defence, setting the club off on a tremendous winning run over Christmas and New Year that lifted them to the fringes of the play-off places

Despite the Pitmen's season imploding dramatically in the final weeks of the season, Mendez-Jones had done enough to convince many of his ability and adaptability, turning in many good performances in a variety of positions. This led to rumours of a number of Football League clubs showing an interest in the youngster, with the likes of Plymouth Argyle and Luton Town allegedly keeping tabs on Mendez-Jones

However, in July 2018, Mendez-Jones returned to Keys Park to agree a new deal with the club for the forthcoming season. He started the season well in a fairly strong Hednesford defence but departed Keys Park in November 2018 to follow Rob Smith and Larry Chambers to Southern Premier League Central side Halesowen Town

Life at the Grove was to prove tough for Mendez-Jones and his manager, as the Yeltz were relegated at the end of the 2018-2019 season to step four once more. By this point, Mendez-Jones had picked up an MCL injury that saw him leave Halesowen injured. He signed for Rushall Olympic in the summer, but his return to action was delayed by a few months whilst he recovered from injury

After playing ten times for Rushall, Mendez-Jones joined league rivals Redditch United in November 2019, playing only twice for them before joining Gary Hayward's struggling Buxton side the following month

After nine appearances at Silverlands, Mendez-Jones returned to his native West Midlands and rejoined the Pitmen in January 2020 in a straight swap with former team-mate Curley, who linked up with Buxton. He played four times for the Pitmen before the season was brought to a shuddering halt in March 2020 by the coronavirus pandemic

In June 2020, Mendez-Jones was the latest player from the 2019-2020 squad to agree to a new deal with the club for the forthcoming season after talks with new manager Andy Morrell. The new season started with a bang for the player, who was sent off just six minutes into the 2020-2021 campaign at home to Stourbridge although the red card was later rescinded. The season was later voided due to the ongoing pandemic in early 2021

Mendez-Jones was one of the members of last season's squad to sign up for the Pitmen for the 2021-2022 season in June 2021. However, his season was punctuated almost from the off once more as he suffered a long-term injury that saw him miss most of the first three months of the campaign

In December 2021, after recovering from injury, Mendez-Jones was allowed to join Pitching In Northern Premier League Division One Central neighbours Sutton Coldfield Town on a dual registration deal in a bid to get some valuable game time whilst at Coles Lane. He made two appearances for the Royals before picking up another injury, ruling him out for a further four weeks. He returned to the Hednesford side in February 2022 in the 1-1 draw at Redditch, but immediately picked up another injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the season

In the summer of 2022, it was reported by the club that Mendez-Jones had chosen to retire from football at the age of 26, sitting out the entirety of the 2022-2023 season. However, the player made a u-turn in June 2023 and agreed to a return to the club for the Pitmen's Northern Premier League West campaign
