PLAYER BIO
A young defender who joined the Pitmen in the summer of 2020 having had a previous loan spell at the club back in 2018 on loan from skybet Championship neighbours Birmingham City
A former associate schoolboy at Birmingham from the age of eight, Dawes joined Solihull Moors after being released by Blues, but returned to St. Andrews following a successful trial period in the summer of 2016
After being handed a two-year scholarship by the club, Dawes was placed in the U18 side, where he made eighteen appearances during the 2016-2017 season. He played a handful of times for the Blues U23 side the following season as well as continuing his development in the U18 side, before earning the chance to play senior football for the first time in July 2018 with a loan spell at Sutton Coldfield Town for two months. The summer of 2018 had seen the player sign his first professional contract for the club
In December 2018, Dawes made the step up a level to step three to join the Pitmen ahead of their home game with Whitby Town in the Evo-Stik Premier League. He made three further starts for the club, including the disastrous Cannock Chase derby later in the month against Stafford Rangers - losing 4-1 at Marston Road - before returning to Blues in January 2019
Released by Birmingham in the summer of 2019, Dawes was unattached throughout the voided 2019-2020 season before rejoining the Pitmen on a permanent deal towards the end of their pre-season schedule in September 2020
