Solihull born and a member of the Moors' youth side, Hayden captained his hometown side to the Midland Floodlit League and Cup double in the 2011-2012 season and was rewarded with a promotion to the first team the following season, where he made a clutch of appearances. The first of several loan moves followed in 2012-2013 as he spent time at Lichfield City midway through the season, which was followed by a three-month spell at Midland Alliance outfit Alvechurch the following season

A the start of the 2015-2016 season, Hayden was allowed to join Chasetown for a short spell on a dual registration deal, making only two substitute appearances for the Scholars before returning to Damson Way after a month. A loan deal with Coleshill Town in September 2016 saw the utility man spend a month at Paul Casey's side before once again returning to the Moors

His final loan as a Solihull player came midway through the 2016-2017 season as a month's loan at Vanarama National League North side AFC Telford United followed, with Hayden released by the Moors at the end of the season after five years as a first-team player

He spent the summer trialling with a variety of clubs but eventually signed for Evo-Stik Northern League Division One South side Romulus, where he spent the entirety of the 2017-2018 campaign. A move down to step five followed in September 2018 as he signed for Rugby Town, playing thirteen times for the Valley before making the short switch to Racing Club Warwick for the remainder of the season

A return to Butlin Road was on the cards in the summer of 2019 with a three-month spell back at Rugby, before joining Walsall Wood in November 2019. His first season at Wood was brought to a halt in March 2019 due to the coronavirus pandemic

The following season saw Hayden once again linking up with Wood, but after twelve games of the Midland Football League season the pandemic struck again and the season was voided before it had really got going

Hayden made the move to United Counties League Premier South side Coventry United before the start of the 2021-2022 season, making five appearances at Butts Lane before returning to Oak Park for a second spell in September 2021; he made nineteen starts for the club during the first half of the season before making the two-level step up to join the Pitmen ahead of their league game at Redditch United in February 2022
