PLAYER BIO

Young goalkeeper who rejoined the Pitmen in March 2022 on loan from SkyBet Championship side Birmingham City

A trainee at Sunderland from an early age, Basey joined the Black Cats' U18 side in the summer of 2019 and was a regular in the U18 squad throughout the next two seasons. He was released at the end of his deal and joined Birmingham on trial in May 2021, signing a professional contract with the Blues in July 2021 after being successful in his trial

In November 2021, he was loaned to the Pitmen ahead of their Pitching In Southern Premier League Central game at Nuneaton Borough on a deal that ran initially until January 2022. However, after picking up a hand injury in the warm-up to the Boxing Day game against Rushall Olympic, Basey's loan was pulled and he returned to St. Andrews for treatment

In March 2022, after Basey's injury problems had cleared up, he was free to rejoin the Pitmen on another loan deal until the end of the season, going straight into the side for their trip to Lowestoft Town
