PLAYER BIO

Jamaican international midfielder who joined the Pitmen in July 2024 after a spell playing for Finnish side FF Jaros

Kingston-born Holness spent his formative years playing college football in the United States, joining MLS side Portland Timbers as part of their U23 side in May 2014. After featuring for the Jamaica U17, U20 and U23 sides for the past few seasons, Holness earned himself a call-up to the full national side in September 2014, making the first of five appearances for his county in a game against Canada the following week

Just before the 2016 MLS season started, the midfielder was picked up in the fifth draft by MLS side Real Salt Lake. Holness went on to make ten appearances for the side during the regular season, also spending time out on loan at second-tier side Real Monarchs for a spell

Nine more appearances for Real Salt Lake and several from the bench followed in the 2017 MLS season, scoring once against FC Dallas in April 2017. Despite plenty of experience in the MLS, Real Salt Lake released Holness at the end of the 2017 season, whereby he dropped back down to the USL to join Bethlehem Steel. His spell there was punctuated by a long spell on the sidelines with a knee injury, limiting him to just nine games in the 2018 season

A short spell at San Roque was quickly followed by a move to England, linking up with Vanarama National League North side Darlington towards the end of their 2018-2019 season. He impressed sufficiently for the Quakers to offer him a deal for the following season, with Holness making over thirty starts for Darlington before the season was brought to a halt due to COVID

The 2020-2021 season was also to prove to be fruitless due to the pandemic, with Holness limited to just six appearances before the season was voided. In June 2021, Holness moved south and joined Varnarama National League South side Bath City, where he enjoyed a consistent season with the Twerton Park side

After a spell back in the USA, Holness returned to the UK briefly in March 2023, joining Steve King's play-off chasing Gloucester City back in National League North. It was to prove a short but fruitful spell for Holness as the Tigers clinched a top-six finish at the end of the campaign

The player was on the move again in the summer of 2023, joining Finnish Ykkösliiga side FF Jaro for a spell before leaving in early 2024 and returning to the UK. Former Gloucester manager King - now at the helm at Keys Park - moved to bring the player in - initially as a trialist - before signing the player ahead of the Pitmen's 2024-2025 Northern Premier League West campaign
