Outstanding attacking midfield talent who joined the Pitmen from Northern Premier League West champions Leek Town in June 2024
Newcastle-born Trickett-Smith spent his formative years at the renowned Crewe Alexandra academy before joining Premier League giants Liverpool in April 2012 for a £300,000 fee. In his four years at Anfield, he moved from the U18 side to the U21 side, playing consistently for the Reds during the 2014-2015 season and getting close to a first-team call-up until inopportune injuries put paid to his progress there
After his release from Liverpool after four years there, Trickett-Smith tried his luck in the United States for a spell, moving to Sacramento Republic for a spell in May 2016. He made fourteen starts there, scoring twice, before returning to England in September 2017 to sign for Northern Premier League Southside Leek. His form at Harrison Park caught the eye of professional clubs throughout the 2017-2018 season, with Trickett-Smith plundering fifteen goals in thirty-one starts as Leek narrowly missed out on the play-offs
Port Vale moved to sign the attacker on an eighteen-month contract in January 2019, immediately loaning him back to Leek for the remainder of the 2018-2019 season. Leek earned themselves a play-off place at the end of the season but were beaten by Radcliffe in the play-off final
Vale looked to loan the youngster out to a higher league side at the start of the 2019-2020 season, allowing Vanarama National League North side to borrow Trickett-Smith for two months in September 2019. Upon his return to Vale Park, he was loaned to FC United of Manchester for a month in February 2020, shortly before the COVID pandemic brought the season to a halt. Whilst on loan at Curzon, Trickett-Smith made his full debut for Vale in an EFL Trophy game against Newcastle United U21 in November 2019
A further loan spell at Leek followed early in the 2020-2021 season, but this prolific spell of three goals in five starts was brought to an abrupt end due to the ongoing pandemic. At the end of his deal with Port Vale, Trickett-Smith was released by the club in May 2021
After returning to Leek as a permanent player in August 2021, Trickett-Smith spent the next three seasons establishing himself as a key player for the Blues in their rise towards promotion. Nineteen goals in 2021-2022 helped Leek to the play-offs once more, losing to Runcorn Linnets in the play-off semi-final in May 2022
A less prolific season in 2022-2023 saw only six goals from thirty-seven starts as Leek once again finished in the play-offs before being denied by Runcorn for the second year in a row. However, 2023-2024 was a culmination of Leek's squad building as they ran away with the Northern Premier League West, with Trickett-Smith central to their title win with nineteen goals from the number ten role just behind the strikers
Despite Leek's promotion to step three, Trickett-Smith elected to make the cross-county switch to Keys Park and join the ambitious Pitmen in June 2024. He was prove to be a highly influential figure at Keys Park throughout the season, making just shy of fifty starts for the club and weighing in with thirteen goals and a hatful of assists to help the Pitmen to promotion
Trickett-Smith followed the majority of his team-mates in agreeing terms to remain at Keys Park for the 2025-2026 season in May 2025, ahead of the Pitmen's forthcoming Northern Premier League campaign
