Combative centre-back who joined the Pitmen on loan from Enterprise National League side Boston United in September 2026
Nuneaton-born Ward started out as an amateur player at Loughborough Students in 2020 whilst attending Loughborough University, earning plaudits for his defensive performances that attracted interest from semi-professional clubs in the area. Southern Premier League Central side Barwell snapped him up in the summer of 2022, sending him out on a dual registration deal with Vanarama National League South side Weymouth for a short spell at the start of the 2022-2023 season
After returning to Barwell, he was a regular feature of the side that was to finish in a highly impressive eighth place in the table. The 2023-2024 season was a more sobering mid-table finish for the Leicestershire-based side, with Ward starting to attract interest from clubs higher up the pyramid
In July 2024, Ward made the move up a level to join National League North side Leamington for an undisclosed fee. He was a huge hit at the New Windmill Ground as an ever-present that year, scoring five times in forty-four starts as the Brakes finished sixteenth in the table
The lure of full-time football saw Ward on the move again in June 2025 as divisional rivals Buxton paid an undisclosed fee for the defender to bring him to Silverlands. Once again, Ward's consistency was to prove valuable for the side with forty-two starts as the Bucks finished fifth in the table and were beaten in the play-off semi-final by South Shields
Ward's rise up the pyramid continued in the summer of 2026 as, despite interest from the Pitmen, National League side Boston paid Buxton an undisclosed fee for the defender's services in June 2026. Ward was used sparingly in the opening weeks of the season and was allowed to join Hednesford on loan
