Experienced step 3/4 midfielder who followed Paul Moore from Newcastle Town to Hednesford in March 2024

Stafford-born Berks - the son of ex-Hednesford midfielder Peter and nephew of another former Pitman, David - represented Port Vale as a junior and signed his first professional contract at Vale Park in the summer of 2019. He was immediately sent out to his hometown club Stafford Rangers on a long-term loan, designed to give him valuable first-team experience at Ev-Stik Northern Premier League level

After ten starts for Rangers, Berks returned to Vale Park before being released in January 2020 and was allowed to join Chasetown on a free transfer. He made a handful of starts for the Scholars before the coronavirus pandemic brought football to a halt in March 2020

The following season saw Berks join Newcastle for the first time, making ten starts at the Lyme Valley Stadium before the ongoing pandemic once again ended the season suddenly in October 2020

After agreeing a deal to remain at Newcastle for the 2021-222, Berks enjoyed his first consistent season at step four level, making fifteen starts for the Blues as they finished sixteenth in the Northern Premier League West

The summer of 2022 saw Berks move to Midland Football League Premier side Shifnal Town, playing alongside future Hednesford team-mates Sam Griffiths and Jack Kelly briefly before returning to Staffordshire with a move to league rivals Stone Alleynians in October 2022

He returned to step four in July 2023 as he re-signed for Moore's Newcastle, making nine starts before electing to follow his former manager to Keys Park ahead of the Pitmen's run-in
