Powerful striker who joined the Pitmen from Southern Premier League Central side Kettering Town in June 2025
A well-known face across many levels of semi-pro football in recent years, Edwards started his career as a junior at Peterborough United, signing his first professional contract at London Road in March 2015. He had spent two loan spells out at local non-league clubs Bishop's Stortford and Biggleswade Town the previous season in a bid to earn valuable game time
He made his Posh debut in March 2015, coming on as a late substitute in a game against Barnsley, making one further substitute apopearance against Crawley Town a week later before making his one and only start for the club on the final day of the season against Oldham Athletic
At the start of the 2015-2016 campaign, Edwards went out on loan once more, this time to Evo-Stik Northern Premier League side Ilkeston Town for a month before joining Vanarama National League South side St. Albans City in November 2015. His form for St. Albans prompted both parties to extend the loan period further, with Edwards remaining at Clarence Park until March 2016
Edwards' journeys up and down the M1 continued in March 2016 as he joined Southern Premier League side Dunstable Town until the end of the current season. His two-year deal with Peterborough came to an end in May 2016, wth Edwards departing and joining Hull City on trial
He did enough to earn himself a contract with the Tigers, linking up with their U21 side for the 2016-2017 campaign. Another loan was to follow midway through the season as he joined League Two side Accrington Stanley, where he was used mainly as a substitute in a deal that ran until May 2017
Hull elected to take up an option on the player for a second year, with Edwards almost immediately loaned back to Accrington in July 2017 on another long-term loan. He made five starts for the Reds five months as John Coleman's side scampered to the League Two title in style
By this point, Edwards had already returned to Hull and had been loaned out to Vanarama National League outfit Woking for the remainder of the season, where he scored twice in three starts in another largely substitute-driven spell
At the end of his Hull contract, Edwards elected to remain in the north and signed for Vanarama National League side FC Halifax Town. He was a regular contributor at the Shay but once again found starts a little hard to come by as the Shaymen finished in a disappointing sixteenth place
Edwards returned the south of the country in June 2019, signing for Vanarama National League South side Maidstone United. After only one goal in nine starts for the Stones, Edwards returned to his home counties roots in January 2020 to sign for Biggleswade Town once more
However, the COVID pandemic was to affect the next twelve months of football, voiding the 2019-2020 season and halting the following campaign early on after Edwards had joined Royston Town in July 2020
A move to FC Romania in August 2021 saw Edwards back on the goal trail in the Isthmian League South Central, scoring twelve times in twenty-six games to help his side to a mid-table finish. His next move was to largely define his career to date as he joined St. Ives Town in July 2022, where he was to plunder goals at a rapid rate over the next two years; in 2022-2023, he scored twenty goals to ensure the Saints avoided the drop from the Southern Premier League Central before scoring an astonishing thirty-three goals in thirty-six games the following year to lift them up to ninth in the table and finish as the league's top scorer
Kettering - looking for more firepower after a disappointing first season back at step three in 2023-2024 - signed the burly striker in October 2024 from their league rivals, with Edwards playing a big part in the Poppies' title push with sixteen goals in twenty-two starts. However, they fell just short to eventual champions Bedford Town at the end of the campaign and missed out on promotion via the play-offs as they lost to Harborough Town in the semi-final
In June 2025, newly-promoted Hednesford moved to bring the prolific striker on for an undisclosed fee to add to their already-impressive array of summer signings ahead of the 2025-2026 Northern Premier League campaign
