Experienced defender, comfortable at either right-back or centre-back, who joined the Pitmen from Vanarama National League North neighbours Rushall Olympic in June 2024

A trainee at Walsall from the age of 16, Roberts was picked up by the Saddlers from Sunday football and signed his first professional contract with the club in May 2016. He made his first team bow for the club in a League One game against Oxford United in December 2016, going on to make four starts and twenty substitute appearances for the club that season

2017-2018 was a real breakout season for the youngster, making twenty-four starts for Walsall as he cemented his place in the side with a string of impressive displays for the League strugglers. However, his fledgling career was put on hold for over a year in the 2018-2019 season as Roberts suffered a terrible leg break in a pre-season friendly against Stoke City that consigned him to the sidelines for a lengthy spell

Roberts returned to the Walsall side on the 2019-2020 season but failed to nail down a regular spot with only four starts and was released at the end of his contract in the summer of 2020. He made the move down south to Vanarama National League side Bromley on a two-year deal, where he made twenty-three starts for the Kent-based outfit during the COVID-interrupted 2020-2021 season

The start of the 2021-2022 season saw Roberts sent out on loan to Vanarama National League North side AFC Telford United, where he spent two months before a similar length loan at Southern Premier League Central side Rushall Olympic. In late January 2022, Roberts joined Vanarama National League South side Dartford - managed by soon-to-be Hednesford manager Steve King - where Roberts got his career back on track with a succession of superb displays at the back whilst at Princes Park

July 2022 saw the defender join National League South side Hemel Hempstead Town, where he was a virtual ever-present for the Tudors as they finished fifteenth in the table at the end of a slightly disappointing campaign for the club

After a spell away from football in the early part of the 2023-2024 season, Roberts returned to Rushall on a permanent deal until the end of the National League North season in March 2024, helping the Pics to secure step two football for the 2024-2025 season as they narrowly avoided the drop

The ambitious Pitmen - now managed by Roberts' former gaffer King - made the move to secure the services of the experienced defender in June 2024, ahead of their Northern Premier League West campaign. Roberts played as a centre-back for much of the campaign but also saw game-time as a full-back in the absence of Blaine Rowe as the Pitmen stormed to promotion under Gavin Hurren via the play-offs

Having made over thirty starts in the previous season, Roberts was one of twenty-one players to agree terms wth the club in in May 2025 ahead of the Pitmen's 2025-2026 Northern Premier League campaign
