Prolific striker at all levels of non-league football who rejoined the Pitmen in October 2025 from Northern Premier League East side Matlock Town
Birmingham-born Gibson started his career as a junior at Highgate United before being scouted by League Two outfit Notts County during the 2015-2016 season. He made his first team debut for County at the end of the 2015-2016 season in April 2016 as a substitute in a 1-0 victory over Hartlepool United, making three more appearances as a substitute before the end of the campaign
The 2016-2017 season saw the teenager loaned out by Notts County on several occasions in a bid to gain first-team experience, with Gibson joining Northern Premier League Division One South side Romulus for a month in August 2016, followed by a month's loan at Southern Premier League Barwell in October
In December 2016, new Hednesford manager Paul Casey brought Gibson to Keys Park on a month's loan, with Gibson making one substitute appearance for the Pitmen in a 4-1 mauling at Grantham Town before being sent back to Meadow Lane early by Casey before Christmas for showing a poor attitude in training
Despite this, Gibson made a further substitute appearance for Notts County in January 2017 against Grimsby Town; three weeks later, Gibson was loaned out to Sutton Coldfield Town, spending a month at Coles Lane before returning to Notts County
New Notts County manager Kevin Nolan was keen to retain Gibson's services for the 2017-2018 season and initially named the striker as part of the retained list, but with no new contract forthcoming, Gibson left the club in May 2017
Gibson dropped into the semi-pro ranks with a move to the newly-formed Ilkeston Town in July 2017, joining Steve Chettle's Midland Football League Division One side on their inaugural season at step six. Gibson was in prolific form for the Robins with thirteen goals that pushed them into a title race with Walsall Wood, before leaving the New Manor Ground in March 2018 citing travelling issues from his Birmingham home
Gibson ended the season at Southern Premier League side Redditch United and convinced new Reds manager Paul Davis to offer him a new deal for the 2018-2019 campaign in the summer. However, after only two goals in nineteen starts, Gibson was on the move once more in November 2018 as he joined league rivals Bedworth United. Again, goals were in short supply for the striker with only three goals in fourteen games before leaving in March 2019
Gibson's next stop in his tour around the Midlands non-league grounds saw him join ambitious Southern League Division One Midland side Halesowen Town. The goals returned to Gibson's game with an impressive return of nineteen goals in twenty-six starts before the COVID pandemic ended the season prematurely in March 2020
Perennial League Two strugglers Grimsby Town had been keeping tabs on the player's progress at the Grove and moved to bring the striker to Blundell Park in August 2020 on a three-year contract. Gibson enjoyed an impressive first season at Grimsby, playing over twenty times in League Two and scoring three times; however, the team had struggled on the pitch and were relegated back into non-league football for the first time in six seasons as they finished rock bottom of the EFL
Gibson dropped out of favour at the start of the 2021-2022 season and was sent out to both Altrincham and Stourbridge on loan in the first half of the season. In November 2021, the player and the club agreed to a mutual contract termination, just fifteen months into his three-year deal
This allowed Gibson to join Stourbridge on a permanent deal, where he scored at a rate of nearly a goal a game in the next three months before re-joining Ilkeston in January 2022
Now back at step four, Ilkeston were gunning for the Northern Premier League Division One Midland title - Gibson's arrival was a welcome addition to their ranks, with the striker grabbing seven goals in eleven games to help Ilson to promotion
After agreeing a new deal with now-Southern Premier League Central Ilkeston in the summer of 2022, Gibson made the left-field move up a division to join Vanarama National League North side AFC Telford United on a month's loan. After only three appearances and citing a change in work commitments, Gibson returned to Ilkeston but made only a handful of appearances before another about-turn saw him return to Telford for a further loan spell in November 2022 until the end of the season
Gibson's move to the New Bucks Head was made a permanent one in July 2023, joining the relegated Bucks ahead of their Southern Premier League Central campaign. Thirteen goals for Telford in the season lifted them up to second place in the table at the end of the season, missing out on automatic promotion to Needham Market by just three points before losing 1-0 to Leamington in the play-off final
His form for Telford prompted National League North giants Hereford to sign Gibson in June 2024, where he scored twice in eight games before the financially well-backed Matlock Town came in for the player, paying an undisclosed fee to snap him up in September 2024
Gibson was a prolific scorer for the Pitching In Northern Premier League side, scoring over twenty goals in under forty games to put his name amongst the top scorers in the division. Amazingly, however, despite Gibson's free scoring and further heavy investment in the squad, Matlock finished nineteenth in the league and were relegated to step four at the end of the season
Gibson remained at Matlock ahead of their Northern Premier League East campaign in the summer of 2025 but once more made another one of his unusual loan moves as he stepped up two divisions again to re-join Hereford. After one goal in three games, Gibson's loan was cancelled by Matlock before his deal at the Gladiators was cancelled after meetings with manager Adam Clayton
A few days later, Gibson was unveiled as the Pitmen's latest high-profile signing as they looked for more goals from their shot-shy squad
