Hugely experienced winger who joined the Pitmen from Enterprise National League North side Hereford in January 2026

A former trainee at Birmingham City, Sterling-James was released by Blues in the summer of 2012 and made the well-worn path from St. Andrews to Alvechurch for the forthcoming season, where he made over thirty appearances for Church in the Midland Alliance, scoring at nearly a goal every other game and attracting interest from Calor Southern Premier League neighbours Redditch United

In October 2013, he made the short move to the Valley Stadium and continued his impressive goals-to-games ratio with another thirteen goals at step three. This prominent rise in stature saw professional clubs scouting the youngster, with League Two side Cheltenham Town signing Sterling-James in July 2014 after a short trial period at Whaddon Road

He quickly established himself in the Robins' first team, making his debut against Brighton & Hove Albion in August 2014 and making twenty-two appearances overall during the season, although he could not help save Cheltenham from the inevitable relegation back into non-league football in May 2015

With Cheltenham adapting to life back in the National League, Sterling-James spent the first half of the following season out on loan at National League South side Oxford City, making sixteen appearances before a similar spell out at National League North side Gloucester City. Cheltenham also confirmed that he would be one of seven players who would be leaving the club in the summer at the expiry of their contracts

In July 2016, Sterling-James returned to his Birmingham roots with a move to newly promoted National League side Solihull Moors. he was in impressive form in his one full season at Damson Park, playing forty-two games and scoring nine goals as the Moors established themselves at step one. His form had also attracted interest from the Caribbean, with St. Kitts & Nevis calling the player up for their forthcoming friendlies against Georgia and Armenia in March 2017

Despite Solihull looking to extend his contract in the summer of 2017, Mansfield Town offered the winger a return to the professional game on a three-year contract. Despite being a fixture in the side for the first half of the 2017-018 season, he failed to record a goal at Field Mill and was loaned back to Solihull for the remainder of the season in March 2018

A proposed loan move to Boston United fell through at the last minute after his return to Mansfield in September 2018, with Sterling-James working his way back into the Stags side before a long-term loan at Brackley Town to finish the 2018-2019 campaign

The 2019-2020 season saw Sterling-James in and out of the Mansfield side, making a handful of starts before joining National League North strugglers Kettering Town just two weeks before the season was brought to a halt due to the COVID pandemic

A return to the Midlands in the autumn of 2020 saw him join fellow National League North side Kidderminster Harriers, where he was an ever-present before the 2020-2021 season was brought to a halt due to the ongoing pandemic in November 2020

He remained at Aggborough for the 2021-2022 season, with Harriers having a fine campaign that saw them go on an F.A. Cup run that was ended by Premier League side West Ham after extra time on live TV. Harriers also made the play-offs in National League North wth a fourth-placed finish, losing to Boston United in the semi-final

The winger elected to leave Kiddemrinster and move laterally to National League South in the summer of 2022, joining ambitious Kent side Ebbsfleet United. It was to prove to be an excellent move for the player as Fleet roared to the NLS title and promotion back to the National League after three years at step two. Sterling-James played over thirty times that season and followed this up with nearly thirty starts the following year as Ebbsfleet just about hung on to their step one status with a nineteenth placed finish

Alvechurch - where it all began twelve years earlier - was Sterling-James's next stop in July 2024, with the player returning to Lye Meadow for the now-Southern Premier League Central Church. His excellent form at step three once again saw National League North sides taking note, with struggling Rushall Olympic signing the player on a short-term deal in January 2025. However, his spell at the doomed Dales Lane club was a short one as he joined league rivals Hereford two months later

After agreeing an extension at Hereford for the 2025-2026 season, Sterling-James was a regular starter at Edgar Street as the Bulls struggled for form and results during the first half of the season. On New Year's Eve, it was announced that the player would be leaving Hereford after he had received a better offer from Hednesford, a club closer to home. He made his Pitmen debut the following day as a substitute in the 1-0 defeat to former side Rushall
