Young striker who joined the Pitmen in August 2026 after leaving Championship side Southampton

Merry spent the majority of the previous decade as a junior at St. Mary's Stadium, joining the U11 side and working his way up to the U21 side in 2023-2024. The teenager was allowed to join local National League side Eastleigh on loan for the remainder of the season in March 2024, making fifteen appearances for the Spitfires

In July 2025, Merry joined Eastleigh's fellow National League opponents Yeovil Town on a season-long loan, pairing him up with future Hednesford team-mate Aaron Jarvis up front on occasions whilst at Huish Park. He was used sparingly for the Glovers during the campaign, making only eight starts as they finished in a lowly sixteenth place

After being released by Southampton in May 2026, he joined the Pitmen on trial and impressed in a handful of cameo appearances off the bench to convince Kelvin Davis to offer Merry a deal with the club ahead of the 2026-2027 campaign
